We Are a Welcoming Congregation
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
May 31, 2016
Cheryl and I are on a cruise to Alaska from Seattle (Bev Strauss is also in our group). We are docking in Juneau as I write this from the ship's library, and I am viewing snow-capped mountains over wild shoreline while typing. What a glorious overwhelmingly powerful grandeur greets us as we get further and further north! I wish you all could share in the mightiness of scale that is Alaska. Please understand that, due to these distractions, this report is necessarily brief! More will come next month.
Bob Hanson

NUUF Community Events
At a traditional Memorial Day Observance on May 30th, fellowship members held a dedication of the Peace Pole located in the Woodruff Town Cemetery. While prayers were offered two eagles circled overhead. The Peace Pole carries the simple message, “May Peace Prevail on Earth”. The Woodruff pole has the message in eight languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese and Odawa/Ojibway. After flowers were placed in memory of those whose lives have been lost in our wars the ceremony was closed with the playing of taps and the hope that peace would someday prevail and no more lives would be lost in war. Special thanks to the Lakeland Minocqua Breakfast Rotary Club and the Woodruff Town Board for their support of the Peace Pole.
Also special thanks to Terry Hoyt for organizing everything and for his persistence.
